The Edval software suite is user friendly, and feature rich.

Our training days are designed to help you make the most of our products, especially new users.

Schools should ideally send at least two people to the three training days: D1, D2 and D3. It is best if this training is started before Term 3. These days need to be attended in this order, but not within a short time-frame, allowing time to digest the information effectively, and complete online training to check/help understanding.

The other pages on this site should answer all of your questions about our training in general, and what is covered during each of the different types of days. If you require more information, please contact us at training@edval.com.au.

Edval Timetables is endorsed to provide QTC Registered Professional Development for teachers accredited at Lead Teacher level.

One booking per school should be made by submitting this form Book training. You should also use this form to indicate your interest in training for which there is no current suitable event listed.

D1 Timetable Essentials

This is the first introduction to the Edval timetable software, and covers data entry, as well as a broad understanding of the software. This training promotes confidence and competence in your ability to be able to make timetable changes.

  • Managing the school timetable knowledge through data entry screens

  • How to get days off for teachers or put them in one teaching room across the cycle

  • Setting up your classes with the right timetable structure

This day is part demonstration, with time for questions, and hands-on activities. A worksheet and sample file are provided to all trainees.
Morning tea and lunch are provided.

One booking per school should be made by submitting this form Book training.

Completing D1 Timetable Essentials will contribute 6 hours of QTC Registered PD addressing 6.3.4 and 7.1.4 from the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers towards maintaining Lead Teacher Accreditation in NSW.

D3 Timetable Construction

This is the third day of basic training in the Edval timetable software.

It covers most of the tools and techniques that you will need when constructing a timetable automatically in Edval.
Topics include:

  • Checking for problems before you start

  • Creating a matrix type grid

  • Adding your years one at a time

  • Modifications that solve difficult problems

  • Splitting classes to balance loads

This day starts with demonstrations, question-time and hands-on activities. A worksheet and sample file are provided to all trainees for completion by morning tea. The remainder of the day is focused on individual school files.

It is expected that participants will bring their own school file with them. This file should be at ‘Champagne bottle’ stage; or in the final stages leading up to this where problems exist that you would like help in solving.

This means that all attending schools would start their timetable for the next year on this day, and possibly go close to finishing it, in the presence of an Edval Consultant who will be able to assist them with any specific issues.

Morning tea and lunch are provided.

One booking per school should be made by submitting this form Book training.

Completing D3 Timetable Construction will contribute 6 hours of QTC Registered PD addressing 6.3.4 and 7.1.4 from the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers towards maintaining Lead Teacher Accreditation in NSW.

It is not part of the basic three day course, but is charged at the same rates, that is, $395 + GST for the first person, and $245 + GST for each subsequent attendee from the same school.

One booking per school should be made by submitting this form Book training.

Schools on the full support package may be able to send trainees to this course at no additional charge, but this is explicitly by negotiation with Edval, and provided there is room in the course.

    Attendance at D1

After D1, all of the following need to be completed prior to D2:

  • Completion of D1 worksheet. Many people find that re-working the whole worksheet again is very useful to their learning.

  • Submission of training data file with Yr 8 completed.

  • View videos listed in Training Planner given out at D1.

  • Completion of Test Yourself exams listed in Training Planner. Please select -Submit all and finish- each time you go in. You are able to make any number of attempts, and it is not so much your score that we are interested in, but the fact that you have gone in and made a full attempt. The feedback for right and wrong answers is another key aspect of our helping you to learn.

  • Tidying up your own school file with regard to grid, faculty column, subject names, spread requests and subject teacher and room sets.
  • Attendance at D2

After D2, all of the following need to be completed prior to D3:

  • Completion of D2 worksheet

  • View videos listed in Training Planner given out at D1

  • Completion of Test Yourself exams listed in Training Planner

  • Roll over your own school file

  • Do elective lines

  • Prepare your file for the next year by editing subject teacher data and sets, subject room data and sets, class structure

  • Check the validity of your file using Ctrl-Q

It is expected that most schools will not be ready for this until Term 4.
From after morning tea onwards, it is expected that we will be working on your own 2014 file
Bring your file with questions ready or having reached the champagne bottle
