Edval has an extremely advanced daily organiser module. Simply nominate which staff are away and Edval will show you immediately which periods of their timetable you will need to cover. Edval also shows you a list of staff capable of covering this period. The list is sorted according to your rules, so the top of the list are staff you are likely to select for these periods. Some of the intelligent rules you can define manage:

• Available staff who are also in the same faculty as the class to cover (Science teachers to cover science classes)

• Staff loads for that day, so we do not give covers to staff who are already busy

• Consideration of how many covers each teacher has done that fortnight or year

Edval also supports excursion and other calendar based absences, both in defining absent teachers automatically over a range of dates, as well as marking student groups absent for excursions, which means staff on classes involving these students are now automatically free for covering absences over these periods.
