Automatic rooming
Edval can room your entire school automatically in seconds, according to your rules. Simply specify room sets and class preferences, and Edval does the rest, including:
- Provide the best possible rooming quality for resources available
- Give specialist room priority to classes with double periods
- Allocate rooms as fairly and as balanced as possible
- Maximise room consistency (Classes get one room for all periods)
- Cater to staff home room requests or other room preferences
Edval also has rooming tools that solely resolve room clashes automatically yet with the least disruption to the timetable, and a room optimiser that improves room quality incrementally without making drastic changes, such as when other changes have been made to a working timetable.
The room solver screen shows a powerful visualisation of room quality and consistency for all your classes, together with a quality score metric to sort and analyse problems efficiently.
Edval supports three automatic rooming tools, and nearly a dozen manual tools to manage rooming graphically or directly including the room auto-pick, room re-selector, room timetable, room master, room free timetable and many more. Edval shows rooming issues graphically with clash spots (overfull room, room clash, cross campus clash etc) or in report tables (Rooms size report, room quality report etc).
Edval can even import an existing timetable and re-room it automatically. One school processed recently achieved a huge 60% improvement in their room quality on their current timetable. Previously some classes had up to five separate rooms, but Edval got this down to just one room for most classes, with only a couple in more than one.
